ABOUT THE JOB:
This position is located in the Child and Youth, MWR, NSA Bahrain. The purpose of the Child and Youth (CY) Program Assistant is to provide appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in one or more CY programs. Develops schedules and activity plans. Reviews and provides input into schedules and activity plans developed by CY program Assistants, GS 1702-02 and GS 1702-03. Ensures that program plans and activities incorporate the observed needs of individual children and youth. Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth. Incorporates special instructions provided by parents such as special dietary needs, physical needs, or other information that may affect the child or youth’s experience in the program. Demonstrates, instructs, leads and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health and nutrition practices. Helps arrange for and/ or serve appropriate snacks or meals where applicable. Helps prepare, arrange and maintain indoor and outdoor activity area and materials to accommodate daily schedules. Sets up displays and bulletin boards. Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth and adults. Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques. Provides care and supervision, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with the Department of Defense (DOD), NAF Component, and local installation policies, guidance, and standards. Ensures children and youth (as applicable) depart with authorized person according to written parental instructions. Interacts professionally with employees, parents and local installation command personnel. Provides parents with daily verbal or written feedback about their child/ youth or program activates. Observes children and youth and documents developmental progression and/ or concerns. Uses the information in planning.

Education and experience requirements:
The following tables show the amount of education and/or experience required to qualify for positions covered by this standard
BG-04: Education: High school graduation or equivalent and/or General Experience: Three (3) Months.
BG-05: Education: 1 year above high school and/or General Experience: Six (6) Months.
BG-06: Education: 2 years above high school and/or General Experience: One (1) Year.
Specialized experience is experience typically in or related to the work of the position that has equipped the applicant with the r knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA’s) to perform successfully the duties of the position.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Applicant must be able to speak, read, write and understand English fluently.
Applicant must be 18 years of age at the time of application.
Applicants other than Bahraini/Arab Nationals must be registered in LMRA.
Applicants whose sponsors are exempted from LMRA should provide valid proof of exemption.
A Current Good Conduct Certificate dated within 3 months of this announcement will be requested at the time of Job Offer.
VISA, PASSPORT, AND CPR MUST BE VALID FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS AT APPLICATION RECEIPT DATE.
Position has a varied work schedule inclusive of weekend and evening hours; may require irregular working hours when special events occur.
The work requires considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds.
